Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: "So one day a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), entered, and said: 'As-salamu alaykum' (Peace be upon you). The Messenger understood it, of course, for he is the master of mankind in every sense. He said: , and nothing moved from him, and he said 'And upon you.' But his wife Aisha, from behind the screen, was so shocked she split in two. She said: 'And upon you be the plague, the curse, and the anger, you brothers of the monkeys and the pigs.'"
The questioner: Allah is the Greatest!!
The Shaykh: The man sat for a while and then left. The Messenger turned to Aisha and said to her:Sunan Abi Dawud 1565Sahih (Al-Albani) She said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you not hear what he said?" He said to her: And so he said in another hadith, when he went out with some of his Companions: , so the Jews, due to their malice and bad intentions, envied Islam in many matters, among them this greeting. And so they plotted against the Muslims by saying "As-salamu alaykum" (the plague be upon you) — yes, yes — well, what else do you have?
The questioner: I love you for the sake of Allah.
The Shaykh: May Allah love you for the sake of which you loved me. Now, Professor Taysir, what do you have?
The questioner: May Allah reward you with good. May Allah bless you.
And upon you
وعليكمThe questioner: Allah is the Greatest!!
The Shaykh: The man sat for a while and then left. The Messenger turned to Aisha and said to her:
What is this, Aishah?
ما هذا يا عائشةDid you not hear what I said, O Aisha? Gentleness does not adorn anything except that it beautifies it, and harshness does not adorn anything except that it disgraces it.
ألم تسمعي ما قلتُ يا عائشة ؟! ما كان الرِّفق في شيء إلا زانَه ، وما كان العنف في شيء إلا شانَهWe are going to the Jews. If the Jews greet you, say "And upon you," for one of them says "As-salamu alaykum" (the plague be upon you).
إنا ذاهبون إلى يهود فإذا سلم عليكم اليهود فقولوا وعليكم فإنما يقول أحدهم السام عليكمThe questioner: I love you for the sake of Allah.
The Shaykh: May Allah love you for the sake of which you loved me. Now, Professor Taysir, what do you have?
The questioner: May Allah reward you with good. May Allah bless you.
