Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the matter, when Sa'd ibn Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) came forward to be the judge in the case of Banu Quraizah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Rise to your master.
. Sa'd ibn Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) had been wounded in the Battle of the Confederates in his *akhl*, which is a vein in the thumb; if it bursts, the person dies. He was wounded in it, and he called upon Allah not to let him die until he could see the outcome regarding Banu Quraizah. Take note: Banu Quraizah were allies of the Aws, but they betrayed the covenant of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and joined the Confederates against the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When Sa'd was struck, he said:
O Allah, do not let me die until You make my eyes see the outcome regarding Banu Quraizah
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 37:257
. Look, (may Allah be pleased with him), and his high status with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was such that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a tent to be set up for him in the mosque, a small tent in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so that he could visit him from close by, and he did visit him from close by. When the expedition against Banu Quraizah took place and they agreed that Sa'd ibn Mu'adh would judge them, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that Sa'd ibn Mu'adh be brought to Banu Quraizah. He came riding on a donkey because the wound had exhausted him; he came riding on a donkey. When he approached, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Rise to your master.
. They stood up and dismounted him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
Indeed, these people—meaning the Jews of Banu Quraizah—have chosen you as their judge. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Is my ruling binding upon them? He said: Yes, and I accept it. They said: Yes, your ruling is binding. He said: And what about the one here?—pointing to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Companions. They said: Yes. He said: I rule that you kill their fighters, take their children and women as captives, and seize their wealth.
. It was a decisive ruling. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
You have judged them with the judgment of Allah from above seven heavens
. (May Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) carried out his ruling and killed seven hundred men from them, took their women and children as captives, and seized their wealth. The result is that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Rise to your master.
. This is a command.
