Continuation of the explanation of the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the fifth pillar, it is Hajj to the House, the House of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), meaning the intention to go there to perform the rituals that Allah the Exalted specified in His Book and on the tongue of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So Hajj to the House is one of the pillars of Islam.
And whoever performs Hajj to the House, [Umrah] is called a lesser Hajj, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named it a lesser Hajj. However, it has conditions, among which are reaching maturity, sanity, Islam, freedom, and ability; five conditions. If one of these conditions is lacking, it is not obligatory. But if the inability to perform Hajj is due to wealth, it is not obligatory for him, neither by himself nor by a proxy. If it is due to the body, and the inability is expected to end, he should wait until Allah heals him and the obstacle is removed. If it is not expected to end, such as old age, it is obligatory for him to appoint a proxy to perform Hajj on his behalf. This is because a woman asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying:
The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "Yes, you may." إن أبي أدركته فريضة الله على عباده في الحج شيخا لا يثبت على الراحلة أفأحج عنه قال نعم
Sahih al-Bukhari 1513
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved her, as she had called this an obligation, even though he could not do it physically, but he was able to do it with his wealth. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her:
Perform Hajj on his behalf. حجي عنه

These are the five pillars, which are the pillars of Islam: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the prayer, giving zakah, fasting Ramadan, and Hajj to the House of Allah the Sacred. So Jibril said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he informed him of this, he said to him:
You spoke the truth صدقت
You have spoken the truth. 'Umar said:
It amazed us that he would put the question and then he would himself verify the truth. فعجبنا له يسأله ويصدقه
Sahih Muslim 8a
Because the one who confirms a person's words means that he has knowledge of that. So we were amazed at how he asked him and then said, "You have spoken the truth." The questioner, when answered, says, "I understood," he does not say, "You have spoken the truth," he does not confirm the one who informed him. But Jibril (peace be upon him) had knowledge of this, and therefore he said:
You spoke the truth صدقت
And the rest of what he asked about will come, if Allah wills.
The reader: ...of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted in the context of the hadith of 'Umar: "He said:
He (the inquirer) said: Inform me about Iman (faith). He (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you affirm your faith in Allah, in His angels, in His Books, in His Apostles, in the Day of Judgment, and you affirm your faith in the Divine Decree about good and evil. جبريل فأخبرني عن الإيمان قال أن تؤمن بالله وملائكته وكتبه ورسله واليوم الآخر وتؤمن بالقدر خيره وشره
Sahih Muslim 8a
