Is it permissible to swear by the life of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : O Shaykh, is it permissible to swear by the life of the Master (Exalted and Majestic is He)?

The Shaykh : By the life of the Master! Of course, because swearing by an attribute of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is not swearing by other than Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Especially since it has come in some authentic hadiths: the oath and swearing by the majesty of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), and this is one of His attributes. Likewise, it is permissible to swear by the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Indeed, Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him)—and this relates to our previous discussion concerning the mental speech held by the Maturidiyyah and the Asha'irah, who deny real speech—Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) used it as evidence that the divine speech is real speech. He said: "The seeking of refuge came in the Sunnah:
I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil, harmful, envious eye. أعوذ بكلمات الله التامَّة ، من كلِّ شيطان وهامَّة ، وعين لامَّة
Sahih al-Bukhari 3371
. Since seeking refuge by a created thing is not permissible, this must be seeking refuge by an attribute of Allah." If seeking refuge by an attribute of Allah is permissible, then swearing by this attribute is also permissible, and one should not stop there, but rather include everything that is a real attribute of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He).

The questioner : Necessary speech, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : There is necessary speech.

The Shaykh : The time is not right for researching this area, but there is another issue concerning some of your relatives, so perhaps, be patient with me for a little, yes?
