Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
This is the hadith that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in explaining reconciliation between two disputing parties. If a person sees two men disputing over something and he reconciles them, he has a precedent in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he has done much good, as was previously mentioned in the discussion of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah - then We are going to give him a great reward.
[An-Nisa 4:114]
.
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the dispute of two men and their voices were raised, he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to them to see what was between them. In this is evidence that there is no blame on a person for intervening in a dispute between two people, provided that it is not a secret between them, because these two men had made it public and were speaking in a loud voice. However, if the matter is between two people in a state of secrecy and concealment, it is not permissible for a person to intervene between them, because that would embarrass them. Their concealment of the matter indicates that they do not like anyone from the people to know about it. If you force yourself into entering between them, you will embarrass them and make things difficult for them, and perhaps their pride in sin will take hold of them so that they do not reconcile.
The important point is that a person should be an instrument of good, and he should strive for reconciliation among people and the removal of enmity and grudges, so that he may attain much good. And success is from Allah.
