Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The chapter on the virtue of being dutiful to the friends of the father and mother, relatives, the wife, and all others whose honor is recommended":
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted: "It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The finest act of goodness is that a person should treat kindly the loved ones of his father.
Sahih Muslim 2552b
.
And it was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):
That a man from the Bedouins met him on the road to Makkah, and 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar greeted him, put him on the donkey he was riding, and gave him the turban that was on his head. Ibn Dinar said: We said to him, May Allah correct you, they are Bedouins and they are satisfied with little. 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The father of this man was a friend of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The most dutiful of the dutiful is for a man to maintain ties with the friends of his father
.
And in a narration from Ibn Dinar, from Ibn 'Umar:
That when he used to go out to Makkah, he had a donkey to rest on when he was tired of riding the camel, and a turban to tie around his head. So one day, while he was on that donkey, a Bedouin passed by him and said: Are you not so-and-so ibn so-and-so? He said: Yes. So he gave him the donkey and said: Ride this. And he gave him the turban and said: Tie it around your head. Some of his companions said to him: May Allah forgive you, you gave this Bedouin a donkey you used to rest on and a turban you used to tie around your head? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Among the most dutiful of the dutiful is for a man to maintain ties with the friends of his father after he has passed away, and his father was a friend of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)
, Muslim narrated all these narrations"
