The reader: He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "The chapter on generosity, liberality, and spending in the causes of goodness, with trust in Allah the Exalted:
Allah the Exalted said:
But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it وما أنفقتم من شيء فهو يُخلفه
[Saba 34:39]

And He the Exalted said:
And whatever good you [believers] spend is for yourselves, and you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah. And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged. وما تنفقوا مِن خير فلأنفسكم وما تنفقون إلا ابتغاء وجه الله وما تنفقوا مِن خيرٍ يُوفَّ إليكم وأنتم لا تظلمون
[Al-Baqarah 2:272]

And He said:
And whatever you spend of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it. وما تنفقوا من خير فإن الله به عليم

From 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
There should be no envy but only in case of two persons: one having been endowed with wealth and power to spend it in the cause of Truth, and (the other) who has been endowed with wisdom and he decides cases with the help of it and teaches it (to others). لا حسد إلا في اثنتين، رجل أتاه الله مالا فسلطه على هلكته في الحق، ورجل آتاه الله حكمة فهو يقضي بها ويعلمها

And from him (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Who among you considers the wealth of his heirs dearer to him than his own wealth?" They replied, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! There is none among us but loves his own wealth more." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "So his wealth is whatever he spends (in Allah's Cause) during his life (on good deeds) while the wealth of his heirs is whatever he leaves after his death." أيكم مال وارثه أحب إليه من ماله؟ قالوا يا رسول الله ما منا أحد إلا ماله أحب إليه. قال: فإن ماله ما قدم ومال وارثه ما أخر

And from 'Adi ibn Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date. اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة

And from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
It never happened that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked for anything and he said: No. ما سئل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم شيئا قط فقال: لا

And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There is never a day wherein servants (of God) get up at morn, but are not visited by two angels. One of them says: 0 Allah, give him more who spends (for the sake of Allah), and the other says: 0 Allah, bring destruction to one who withholds. ما من يوم يصبح العباد فيه إلا ملكان ينزلان فيقول أحدهما: اللهم أعط منفقًا خلفا، ويقول الآخر: اللهم أعط ممسكا تلفا
Sahih Muslim 1010

And from him (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
God most high had said, "If you spend, son of Adam, I shall spend on you.” قال الله تعالى أنفق يا ابن آدم ينفق عليك
