Is the Sunnah to fast the entire month of Sha'ban or only part of it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is the fasting of Sha'ban for the whole month or half of it?

Answer:
One should fast most of it or all of it, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast most of it or all of it, except for a little.
Q: And what about the statement that one should fast the first fifteen days from the beginning of Sha'ban?
A: No, one should fast most of it or all of it; that is the Sunnah.
Q: If one continues fasting from the beginning of the month, is it permissible for him to connect it to Ramadan, or should he break his fast for one or two days in between?
A: If he breaks his fast in between, that is good; otherwise, it is permissible for him. Umm Salamah said, "He used to fast the whole of it," and in a narration from A'ishah: "He used to fast the whole of it."
