Ruling on saying: “You are divorced, then divorced, then divorced; you are permissible for the Christians and the Jews”
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: From Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, to the honorable brother, the virtuous Shaykh / A. A., may Allah grant him success in all good, amen.
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. After that:
O Beloved: I have reviewed what your virtue noted at the end of the attached paper, regarding the description of the divorce that occurred from the husband: N. S. Q., to his wife, which is: that he said to her: “You are divorced, then divorced, then divorced.”
And the answer: What I see is that she is not permissible for him until she marries another husband; because he fulfilled the limit with multiple words. And he must repent from his aforementioned divorce; because pronouncing the triple divorce is not permissible—as your virtue knows.
The aforementioned mentioned in his attached question that he said to his wife: “She is forbidden to him, and she is permissible for the Christians and the Jews.” This is a statement that is not permissible to come from a Muslim from two aspects: because it is not permissible for him to forbid her, and because a Muslim woman is forbidden to the Christians and the Jews. So I hope you will alert him to that.
And I ask Allah to replace each of them with something better than the other, and to reward you for your efforts with good.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
