Question:
What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And there is none of you except he will come to itوَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا
[Maryam 19:71]
?

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained the “passing over” in the verse as crossing over the surface of Hellfire, because the Sirat is established over its surface. Thus, the righteous pass over it, and Allah saves them from its evil; the disbelievers fall into it; and the sinner is in danger of that—may Allah grant us safety. Allah the Exalted said:
(71) And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed. (72) Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.
[Maryam: 71-72].
