Question:
From 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz to the honorable brother B. M. 'A. (may Allah keep him safe).
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I refer to your inquiry, registered with the Department of Scholarly Research and Ifta under number 2610 and dated 4/7/1407 AH, in which you mention the forgetfulness that befell your mother after her gallbladder surgery, and your request that we direct you to a Shari'ah-based treatment for what has befallen her.

Answer:
I inform you that what has happened to your mother is by the divine decree and destiny of Allah, and the Muslim should be content with it, be patient, and seek reward from Allah; acting in accordance with His saying, the Exalted:
And give good tidings to the patientوَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ ۝
those who, when a disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we return." It is they who receive blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is they who are the guided. [Surat al-Baqarah: 155-157], and His saying, the Exalted:
No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah - He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things.
[Surat al-Taghabun: 11]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.إن عظم الجزاء مع عظم البلاء، وإن الله إذا أحب قومًا ابتلاهم، فمن رضي فله الرضا، ومن سخط فله السخط
Sunan Ibn Majah 4031Hasan (Darussalam)
Al-Tirmidhi graded it as good.
We advise you to recite for her the opening of the Book, the Verse of the Throne, "Say, He is Allah, the One," "Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of the Daybreak," and "Say, I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind," and other verses and chapters of the Noble Qur'an. Repeat this every night, and every morning and evening, along with authentic, transmitted supplications such as:
O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction, and You are the Healer, there is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness. And in the name of Allah I recite over you, from every thing that harms you, and from the evil of every soul or envious eye. May Allah heal you.
. Repeat these two supplications three times, and also supplicate for her with whatever supplication you wish besides these, and it is better if it is from what was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We also advise you to have her examined by specialist doctors, especially those who performed the operation on her, in the hope that they may find a treatment for her.
May Allah guide everyone to what brings Him pleasure, and heal your mother from what has befallen her, and grant everyone health and well-being. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive. And may peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
