The slaughter and recitation of the Qur'an for the healing of the sick
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa number ( 10298 )
Q2: There in Chad when a person falls ill and the others gather, a sheep or goat or something with blood is slaughtered, and they recite the Qur'an over it
seeking from the Lord of the Throne the healing of this person. Is this permissible, or is there no intermediary between the created and his Creator?
A2: It is not permissible to gather at the sick person's place and slaughter and recite the Qur'an for the purpose of healing the sick person, and there are no intermediaries between the Creator and the created to bring healing to the sick person; rather, what is prescribed for treating the sick person is the Shari'ah ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation), and causing his treatment with permissible medicines. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
