Q: If we have a sick person who asks us to gather reciters to complete the recitation of the Noble Qur'an for him—about ten people—is there anything wrong with this? If they gather to complete the recitation of the Qur'an for him, is there anything wrong with this act or not? This is because we heard from some students of knowledge that it is not permissible. Please give us a ruling on what is correct.
A: The act mentioned in the question, which is gathering a number of reciters to complete the recitation of the Qur'an for a sick person, is not prescribed. What is prescribed is healing the sick person by reciting some of the Qur'an along with blowing from the reciter onto the sick person, especially reciting (Surat al-Fatihah) in the manner mentioned, because an authentic hadith has come that it is a healing. It was narrated in (Sahih Muslim ) from Abu Sa'id :. Along with the supplications that have come, among which is what was narrated in (Sahih al-Bukhari ) from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek protection for some of his family, wiping with his right hand
and saying:Riyad as-Salihin 902. And what was narrated in (Sahih Muslim ) from Abu Sa'id : Mishkat al-Masabih 1534.

That a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) were traveling, so they passed by a tribe of the Arabs and asked them for hospitality, but they did not host them. They said to them: Is there a healer among you? For the chief of the tribe is stung or afflicted. A man among them said: Yes. So he went to him and healed him with the opening of the Book; the man was cured, so he was given a flock of sheep, but he refused to accept them and said: Until I mention that to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So he mentioned it to him, and he said: O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I did not heal him except with the opening of the Book. So he smiled and said: And what makes you know that it is a healing? Then he said: Take from them and make a share for me with you.
"Allahumma Rabban-nasi, adhhibil-ba'sa, washfi, Antash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka, shifaan la yughadiru saqaman [O Allah! the Rubb of mankind! Remove this disease and cure (him or her)! You are the Great Curer. There is no cure but through You, which leaves behind no disease]
Gabriel came to the Prophet and asked, “Have you a complaint, Muhammad?” When he replied that he had, he said, “In the name of God I am applying a charm to you from everything which may harm you, from the evil of every evil eye, or eye of an envious one. God heals you. In the name of God I am applying a charm to you.”
