The Ruling on Using Gold and Silver in Doors and Walls

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Answer:
I see now in some houses people who build them at the highest prices, such as the house doors (the door handle is made of gold, some of the welding decoration is made of 18-karat gold, and some of the expensive Najaf [decorations] cost about one million riyals). Is this forbidden, even though it is from his own money and he is able to afford it?

Answer:
What is prescribed for every Muslim is moderation in matters of building, construction, furnishing, and the like; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent.
[Surat al-Isra: 29], and His saying the Exalted:
And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderateوَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَنْفَقُوا لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا وَلَمْ يَقْتُرُوا وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ قَوَامًا
[Surat al-Furqan: 67], and the evidence in this meaning is abundant.
And it is not permissible to use gold and silver in building, doors, and the like; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating and drinking in vessels of gold and silver, and he said:
They are for the disbelievers in this world, and for you—meaning the Muslims—in the Hereafter.إنها للكفار في الدنيا، ولكم -يعني المسلمين- في الآخرة
.
And in the hadith there is a warning against using them in doors, walls, ceilings, flooring, and the like, and success is from Allah.
