Question:
Your Eminence! In her second question, she says: We want to know about the wisdom behind the prohibition of using gold and silver vessels, and the wisdom behind their use in the Hereafter rather than in this world. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
The wisdom—may Allah know best—is as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Therefore, it is not fitting to imitate them in this; and because that may lead to boasting and arrogance, and to breaking the hearts of the poor. So out of Allah’s mercy, He forbade the rich from using them. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: narrated by Muslim in the Sahih. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2067g meaning: the disbelievers Sahih al-Bukhari 5831.
So the wisdom in that is that it is imitating the disbelievers, the enemies of Allah, and that in this there is a breaking of the hearts of the poor and a hurting of them by it, while they are in need, and you are playing with it in eating and drinking and the like.
In any case, it is obligatory upon the community to accept what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and to take it and act upon it, even if they do not know the wisdom. But if they know the wisdom, then it is good upon good, and light upon light. The scholars have explicitly stated that the wisdom is imitating the disbelievers, and breaking the hearts of the poor; because the poor are affected by this, as a person plays with gold and silver in vessels, or spoons, or tea cups, or the like. And these are poor people who need the least of the little that has been given to them. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.

The wisdom—may Allah know best—is as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The disbelievers enjoy them in this world
إن الكفار يتمتعون بها في الدنياThe one who eats or drinks in gold or silver vessels is only pouring the Fire of Hell into his belly
الذي يأكل، أو يشرب في آنية الذهب أو الفضة إنما يجرر في بطنه نار جهنمdo not drink ifi vessels of gold and silver, and do not eat in the dishes made of them (i. e. gold and silver), for these are for them
لا تشربوا في آنية الذهب والفضة، ولا تأكلوا في صحافها؛ فإنها لهمin this world and for you (Muslims) in the hereafter
في الدنيا، ولكم في الآخرةSo the wisdom in that is that it is imitating the disbelievers, the enemies of Allah, and that in this there is a breaking of the hearts of the poor and a hurting of them by it, while they are in need, and you are playing with it in eating and drinking and the like.
