The ruling on using vessels coated with gold or silver

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From Damascus, Umm Nu'man asks in this question: Is it permissible to use copper vessels coated with gold and silver, which have been coated with a thin layer for the purpose of protecting them from damage or the corruption that occurs in copper, for example? Is it permissible to use silver vessels for adornment only, such as placing them on tables or on the wall?

Answer:
No one is permitted to use gold and silver vessels in any way, neither for use nor for adornment, and the same applies to those coated with gold or silver, or coated with either of them; because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in the authentic hadith:
Do not drink in silver or gold utensils, and do not eat in plates of such metals, for such things are for them (the disbelievers) in this worldly life and for you in the Hereafter.لا تشربوا في آنية الذهب والفضة، ولا تأكلوا في صحافها؛ فإنها لهم في الدنيا، ولكم في الآخرة
Bulugh al-Maram 16
meaning: the disbelievers.
And he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
The one who drinks from a silver vessel is swallowing Hell-fire into his belly.الذي يشرب في إناء الذهب والفضة؛ إنما يجرجر في بطنه نار جهنم
Sunan Ibn Majah 3413Sahih (Darussalam)
And their presence on tables, or in any place, is a means to this matter, a means to their use.
So it is obligatory to be cautious of that, whether they are of pure gold, or pure silver, or coated with them. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
