Ruling on Reciting Two Specific Verses in the Duha Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I have become accustomed to reciting the two verses of gratitude in the two rak'ahs of the Duha prayer. The verse is:
and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon meوَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ
[Surat al-Naml: 19], and also the verse from Surat al-Ahqaf:
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried himوَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ إِحْسَانًا حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ
[Surat al-Ahqaf: 15]. Am I considered an innovator, or am I free to recite whatever I wish from the Book of Allah?

Answer:
There is no blame on you for reciting whatever is easy for you from the Qur'an, as long as you do not believe that this is a specific sunnah. This has no basis. However, just as your Lord said: :
So recite what is easy from itفَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ
[Surat al-Muzzammil: 20], if you recite whatever is easy for you, there is no blame on you. But if you intentionally select two specific verses and believe that they alone are the sunnah, this has no basis; because religious innovation is not permissible in the Shari'ah, and no one claims something is a sunnah or a bid'ah (religious innovation) without evidence. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملًا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
So, if you only intended that they are two great verses and you preferred to recite them without believing that they are a specific sunnah to the exclusion of others, there is nothing wrong with it.
