The Shaykh : And in the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) is evidence for the recommendation of the two rak'ahs of the Dhuha prayer, due to his saying: "When they had prayed the Dhuha prayer" meaning when they had performed the Dhuha prayer. The Dhuha prayer is a recommended practice (sunnah), and its time is from when the sun has risen the length of a spear, meaning from a quarter of an hour after sunrise until just before the midday prayer, meaning until there are ten minutes left before the Zuhr prayer. All of this is its time, and it is a recommended practice (sunnah) that a person should maintain, because the two rak'ahs of Dhuha suffice for the charity that becomes due for every limb of the body, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed us that every joint of a person has a charity due for it every day the sun rises, meaning every limb of yours has a charity due for it every day. But it is not only charity of wealth; rather, glorifying Allah is charity, saying Allahu Akbar is charity, saying La ilaha illa Allah is charity, reciting the Qur'an is charity, enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, helping a man with his load and the like is charity, a kind word is charity, and going to one's wife is charity. Everything by which a servant draws near to his Lord is charity. And two rak'ahs that a person prays of Dhuha suffice for that. This indicates that the Dhuha sunnah is a sunnah every day. It also contains evidence that a person, when eating, does not eat while leaning back, but eats while sitting on his knees, so that he does not overeat, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding overeating: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2380Sahih (Darussalam) This is the beneficial, natural eating. And if you are hungry, eat. The matter is not restricted to specific hours; meaning, if a person says, "If I restrict myself to a third, a third, and a third, I might get hungry before the time for Isha arrives," we say, if you are hungry, eat what is available. But eating this light amount is easier for digestion and easier for the stomach; the stomach digests it with ease. And if you have an appetite, eat. This is from the Prophetic medicine. But there is no harm in being full sometimes, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) approved Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) when he drank the milk he was given and said, "Drink, drink, drink," until he said, "By Allah, I do not find a passage for it," meaning I do not find a place for it. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved him for that. What should be the majority of your eating is as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided: a third for food, a third for drink, and a third for breath. And success is from Allah.
