The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
We previously discussed the hadith of Jabir ibn Sulaym, which we explained before, but there remains a phrase in it, namely that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: or This is because a person should pardon and overlook, and not build upon every word he hears. Ignore the matter, pardon, and overlook. Indeed, Allah the Exalted loves those who pardon people and rewards them for it. If you taunt him or curse him with what you know about him, the dispute will prolong, and enmity and hatred may result. If you restrain yourself and remain silent, matters will settle. This is a proven fact: if a person curses another, the cursing between them prolongs, leading to separation and mutual hatred. If he remains silent, it may be more beneficial. As Allah Blessed and Exalted said in describing the servants of the Most Merciful: [Al-Furqan 25:63] meaning they say words by which they are safe, such as saying, for example, "May Allah reward you with good," "Turn away from this," "Leave the talk," or the like. And He Mighty and Majestic said: [Al-A'raf 7:199] Take the pardon, meaning take what is easy and smooth in people's character. Do not demand that people be in the best state with regard to you; people are not as you wish them to be. But take from them what is easy and smooth, and do not seek what is difficult. Therefore, he said: [Al-A'raf 7:199] If an ignorant person curses you or insults you or the like, turn away from him, for this is the good, the benefit, and the advantage.
