The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "
when God’s messenger was travelling and night came on he said, "O earth, my Lord and your Lord is God; I seek refuge in God from your evil, the evil of what you contain, the evil of what has been created in you, and the evil of what creeps upon you; I seek refuge in God from lions, from large black snakes, from other snakes, from scorpions, from the evil of jinn [Or it may be human inhabitants.] which inhabit a settlement and from a parent and his offspring."
Mishkat al-Masabih 2439
Narrated by Abu Dawud "

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful:
These two hadiths explain what a person says when he is traveling and stops at a place. Indeed, in the hadith of Khawlah bint Hakim (may Allah be pleased with her), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
When anyone lands at a place, and then says:" I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of Allah from the evil of what He has created," nothing would harm him until he marches from that stopping place.
Sahih Muslim 2708a
.
His saying:
Whoever stops at a place
: includes one who stops at a place while traveling, if he is a traveler and then stops to rest for lunch or dinner or sleep or anything else. When he stops, he says: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created. The meaning of "I seek refuge" is: I take hold of the perfect words of Allah. The perfect words of Allah include His cosmic words and His legislative words. As for His cosmic words, they are those mentioned by Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in His saying:
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.
[Ya-Sin 36:82]
: Allah the Exalted protects you with His cosmic words, repelling from you what harms you when you say this phrase:
I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created
Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
Likewise, the legislative words of Allah, which are the revelation, contain protection from all evil and harm, protection from evil before it descends, and [protection] after it descends:
As for before it descends, it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
That whoever recites the Verse of the Throne at night, a guardian from Allah remains over him, and no Shaytan approaches him until morning
.
As for after the evil descends, it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that al-Fatihah, when recited over a sick person or one who has been bitten, benefits him, to the extent that the Companion (may Allah be pleased with him), when he recited over the master of the group who was bitten, when he recited Surat al-Fatihah over him, he stood up as if he had been released from a rope, meaning: he was cured, because the Qur'an is a healing:
O mankind, there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers.
[Yunus 10:57]
: So strive, O my Muslim brother, when you stop at a place on land or sea, or a place you have purchased such as a house or the like, say: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, for nothing will harm you until you depart from that place of yours. And Allah grants success.
