The reciter: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the virtue of wudu': "From Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform wudu' like this wudu' of mine, and then he said: Whoever performs wudu' like this, his previous sins will be forgiven, and his prayer and his walking to the mosque will be a nafilah
Narrated by Muslim.
And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a bondsman-a Muslim or a believer-washes his face (in course of ablution), every sin he contemplated with his eyes, will be washed away from his face along with water, or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin they wrought will be effaced from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water; and when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet have walked will be washed away with the water or with the last drop of water with the result that he comes out pure from all sins.
Sahih Muslim 244
Narrated by Muslim"

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in the chapter "Clarification of the Virtue of Wudu'": among them is the hadith of Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him):
That he performed wudu', washing his hands three times, rinsing his mouth and inhaling water three times with three handfuls, washing his face three times, washing his hands to the elbows three times, wiping his head with his hands, moving them forward and backward, wiping his ears, and washing his feet three times to the ankles. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever performs wudu' in the manner of my wudu' and then prays two rak'ahs without speaking to himself in them, Allah will forgive him his previous sins
: And this is a small matter, praise be to Allah, that a person performs this act and then his previous sins are forgiven. The scholars derived from this: "It is recommended for the one who performs wudu' thoroughly to pray two rak'ahs, and it is called the sunnah of wudu'", whether in the morning or in the evening, at night or during the day, after Fajr or after 'Asr, because it is a sunnah that has a cause. So if a person performs wudu' in the manner of the wudu' of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), he prays two rak'ahs so that his previous sins may be forgiven. And in this hadith he said:
Then his walking to the Masjid and his Salah will earn extra merit for him.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 103Hasan (Darussalam)
: meaning nafilah, meaning something in addition to the forgiveness of sins. It does not mean that nafilah is a voluntary prayer; it may be an obligatory prayer, but nafilah means something in addition to the forgiveness of sins, because his sins were forgiven for his wudu' and his first prayer, so his walking to the mosque and his prayer, even if it is obligatory, is a nafilah, meaning an addition, an addition to the forgiveness of sins, because the meaning of nafil in the language is addition, as Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:
And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you
[Al-Isra 17:79]
.
Then the author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned the hadith of Abu Hurayrah that wudu' causes sins to come out: when you wash your face, the sins of your face come out with the water, or with the last drop of water, or here it is due to the uncertainty of the narrator, and in any case, when a person washes his face, the sins of his face come out; when he washes his hands, the sins of his hands that he touched come out; and when he washes his feet, the sins of his feet come out, until he comes out pure from sins, praise be to Allah. So this is evidence of the virtue of wudu', but who among us keeps this virtue in mind?! Is this virtue and reward written for a person whether he keeps it in mind or not?
It appears, if Allah wills, that it is written for him whether he keeps it in mind or not, but if he keeps it in mind, it is more complete, because if he keeps this in mind, he seeks the reward from Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and is certain that he will be rewarded and compensated for this act in proportion to it, unlike when he performs wudu' while being heedless. But we hope from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) that He will write this reward even for the heedless person who performs wudu' in order to fulfill his obligation, and success is from Allah.
