As for 'Asr, among the recommended practices before it is for a person to pray four rak'ahs, taking encouragement from this hadith:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 430Hasan (Darussalam). And this phrase is a supplication, meaning that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) made a supplication for the one who prays four rak'ahs before 'Asr.
And although there is discussion among the scholars regarding this hadith, it is hoped that a person will attain the reward if he prays these four rak'ahs.
