What is the ruling on praying before 'Asr? And what is the authenticity of the hadith narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them): "May Allah have mercy on a man who prays four rak'ahs before 'Asr"?

The questioner : What is the ruling on praying before 'Asr? And what is the authenticity of the hadith narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them):
May Allah have mercy upon a man who prays four before Al-Asr. رحم الله امرأً صلى قبل العصر أربعاً
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 430Hasan (Darussalam)
? And what is the ruling on making it a regular practice?

The Shaykh : By "before 'Asr," it means before the prayer and after the adhan. Some scholars have graded this hadith as hasan (good), but these four rak'ahs are not a rawatib (regular voluntary prayer) that a person should always perform. Therefore, one should not make it a regular practice, because 'Asr does not have a rawatib.
