Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on generosity, doing good, and increasing in good deeds in the month of Ramadan, and increasing in that during the last ten days of it:
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was the most generous of the men; and he was the most generous during the month of Ramadan when Jibril visited him every night and recited the Qur'an to him. During this period, the generosity of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) waxed faster than the rain bearing wind.
Riyad as-Salihin 1222
Agreed upon.
And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said:
When the last ten nights (of Ramadan) would begin, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would keep awake at night (for prayer and devotion), awaken his family and prepare himself to be more diligent in worship.
Riyad as-Salihin 1223
Agreed upon"

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author -may Allah have mercy on him- said in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on generosity in the month of Ramadan":
Generosity is: "giving of what is loved, whether wealth or deed". A person is generous with his wealth by giving to the poor, offering to the rich, and supporting the needy. He is also generous with his deeds by helping people in their affairs, in their cars, in their shops, in their homes. So generosity is giving of wealth or deeds, and it may also include giving of status, by interceding for someone or mediating for them to bring a benefit or remove a harm, or the like of that.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was, as Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The most generous of people أجود الناس
: The most generous of people with his wealth, his body, his knowledge, his calling, his advice, and everything that benefits creation. And he was at his most generous in Ramadan, because Ramadan is the month of generosity; Allah is generous to His servants in it, and the successful servants are generous to their brothers. And Allah the Exalted is generous and loves generosity.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would have Jibril descend upon him in Ramadan every night to review the Qur'an with him, in order to establish it in his heart and to obtain the reward for the review between him and Jibril.
And Jibril (peace be upon him) descends, but in a manner we do not know, because he is an angel from the angels, and the angels are not seen except if Allah Mighty and Majestic wills.
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was more generous with good when he met Jibril to review the Qur'an with him than the sending wind.
The sending wind means the one that Allah Mighty and Majestic sent, so it is fast and stormy. And yet, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was more generous with good than this wind in Ramadan.
Then the author mentioned the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) when he entered the last ten days of Ramadan would keep the night awake.
: He kept it awake with remembrance, recitation, prayer, and worship.
And he would wake up his family and tighten his waist sash.
: He woke them up to pray. And "tightened his waist sash" means: he prepared himself fully for work, because tightening the waist sash means that a person prepares for work and strengthens himself for it. It was also said that the meaning of tightening the waist sash is: that he avoids women (peace and blessings be upon him), because he devotes himself to worship. Both are correct. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) devotes himself to worship in the last ten days of Ramadan, and keeps the whole night in obedience to Allah. This is generosity with the self, but it is generosity in the right of Allah Mighty and Majestic. And Allah is the One who bestows upon whom He wills of His servants. If He bestows upon you with work, the favor is His: He bestows upon you with the work first, then He bestows upon you with its acceptance second. May Allah guide me and you to what He loves.
