The Shaykh : Then there is an occasion, a continuing occasion, which is fasting in Ramadan, standing in prayer in Ramadan, i'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) in it, and Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree); all of these continue.
Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, Allah will forgive him what has come before of his sins
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:853
. This is what Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), said.
Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith
Sahih al-Bukhari 38
, meaning with faith in Allah and in the obligation of fasting.
and seeking reward واحتسابا
, meaning for the reward of Allah the Exalted and His recompense. So two intentions are necessary: faith and seeking reward. Whoever fasts in this manner
Allah the Exalted will forgive him what has come before of his sins
.
what has come before ما تقدم
Everything that has come before. But the hadiths came that what is meant is everything except major sins, because major sins require a specific repentance. Regarding standing in prayer in Ramadan, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about it:
Whoever stands in prayer in Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, Allah will forgive him what has come before of his sins
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:853
. I'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed i'tikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan when it was established that Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree) is only in the last ten nights.
In this blessed month, most people give their zakah (the obligatory alms) to those who are entitled to it, because it is a noble month, and it is recommended to be generous with wealth, self, and status in it. For the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was the most generous of people. - Pay attention -
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was the most generous of the men; and he was the most generous during the month of Ramadan when Jibril visited him every night and recited the Qur'an to him. During this period, the generosity of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) waxed faster than the rain bearing wind.
Riyad as-Salihin 1222
. The sent wind that Allah Mighty and Majestic sends is fast. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is more generous with good in Ramadan than the sent wind. Therefore.
- Sit down, my son, talk to this man, sit down -.
He used to give his zakah (the obligatory alms) in Ramadan.
