The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
This chapter was established by the author (may Allah have mercy on him) in his book *Riyad al-Salihin* in the chapter on the virtue of freeing slaves, to clarify what the hadiths indicate: that if a slave fulfills the right of Allah and the right of his master, he has two rewards. The first reward is for fulfilling the right of Allah, and the second is for fulfilling the right of his master. This is because Allah has a right over him, such as the prayers, fasting, and other acts of worship that are not based on financial matters, and the master has a right over him, which is serving him and the like. So if he fulfills both rights, he has two rewards. Likewise, in the last hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that three people have two rewards: a man from the People of the Book, the Jews or the Christians, meaning he was a Jew or a Christian, then he believed in the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), so he has two rewards. The first reward is his belief in his prophet, and the second is his belief in Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). And let it be known that if the message of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reaches the Jews and the Christians and they do not believe in him, their deeds are rendered void, even the deeds by which they practice their religion in their faith are void and not accepted, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers. ومن يبتغ غير الإسلام دينًا فلن يقبل منه وهو في الآخرة من الخاسرين
[Ali 'Imran 3:85]
As for the second, it is the slave who fulfills the right of his master and the right of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). As for the third, it is a man who had a female slave, so he taught her good manners and taught her well, and educated her and educated her well, then he freed her and married her, so he has two rewards. The first time is for his kindness to her while she was a slave, and the second reward is for his kindness to her after he freed her; he did not neglect her, but he married her and protected her and chaste her. And Allah grants success.
