The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he transmitted: "From Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6857 "
We have previously spoken about these three.
Then he said: meaning that it is one of the seven destructive sins. We have previously spoken about the definition of riba (usury or interest) in the chapter that follows, and about the things in which riba applies, and that riba is among the greatest of the major sins below shirk (associating partners with Allah).
is one of the seven destructive sins. The orphan is the one whose father died before he reached maturity, so a person takes charge of him and eats his wealth, spending it on his family, or trading with it for himself, or something similar to that. This is also one of the seven destructive sins. We ask Allah for safety. There is no difference between the orphan being male or female.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3671Sahih (Darussalam) turning one's back from the ranks of battle on the day of the charge means the day the Muslims charge against the disbelievers, and a person comes and turns his back. If this happens, it is among the major sins, one of the seven destructive sins, because it entails two harms:
The first harm: breaking the hearts of the believers.
The second matter: strengthening the disbelievers against the Muslims. If some of them flee, there is no doubt that they will become stronger against the Muslims, and they will have energy because of that, and they will have vigor because of that. But Allah (Mighty and Majestic) made an exception in the Qur'an, and He said:[Al-Anfal 8:16] So, whoever turns his back for these two reasons:
one who moves to a group, meaning it is said that such-and-such a group has been surrounded by the enemy and it is feared that the enemy will wipe them out, so he leaves to rescue them. There is no harm in this because he moved to what is more beneficial.
And the second is one who turns aside for the sake of fighting, which is mentioned first in the verse:[Al-Anfal 8:16] meaning, for example, he leaves to repair his weapon, or to put on his armor, or something similar to that from the interests of fighting. There is no harm in this.
And the seventh is:Sahih Muslim 89 meaning to falsely accuse a chaste, believing woman. This is among the major sins, by saying to a woman that she is a fornicator, that she is a prostitute, or something similar to that. This is among the major sins. The one who makes the accusation is to be flogged eighty lashes, and his testimony is not accepted, and he will be among the open sinners, not among the people of justice, as Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said: [An-Nur 24:4] This is the punishment. [An-Nur 24:4] This is the second punishment. [An-Nur 24:4-5] Then the state of open sinfulness is lifted from them, and they will be among the people of justice. And His saying: Sahih Muslim 89 similarly, falsely accusing a chaste, believing man. Meaning, if a man is falsely accused, the accuser is to be flogged eighty lashes, like the one who falsely accuses a woman. These are the seven destructive sins. May Allah protect us and you from them, and shield us and you from the misguiding trials. Indeed, He is Capable of all things.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he transmitted: "From Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Avoid the seven great destructive sins." They (the people!) asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What are they?" He said, "To join partners in worship with Allah; to practice sorcery; to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause
اجتنبوا السبع الموبقات قالوا وما هن يا رسول الله قال الشرك بالله والسحر وقتل النفس التي حرم الله إلا بالحقWe have previously spoken about these three.
Then he said:
Consuming riba (usury or interest).
أكلُ الرباAnd consuming the wealth of the orphan.
وأكلُ مال اليتيمconsuming the property of orphans, fleeing on the day of the march
وأكل مال اليتيم والتولي يوم الزحفThe first harm: breaking the hearts of the believers.
The second matter: strengthening the disbelievers against the Muslims. If some of them flee, there is no doubt that they will become stronger against the Muslims, and they will have energy because of that, and they will have vigor because of that. But Allah (Mighty and Majestic) made an exception in the Qur'an, and He said:
And whoever turns his back to them on such a day, unless swerving [as a strategy] for war or joining [another] company, has certainly returned with anger [upon him] from Allah
ومن يولهم يومئذ دبره إلا متحرفا لقتال أو متحيزا إلى فئة فقد باء بغضب من اللهone who moves to a group, meaning it is said that such-and-such a group has been surrounded by the enemy and it is feared that the enemy will wipe them out, so he leaves to rescue them. There is no harm in this because he moved to what is more beneficial.
And the second is one who turns aside for the sake of fighting, which is mentioned first in the verse:
unless swerving [as a strategy] for war
