The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on the prohibition of obscenity and foulness of tongue:
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1977Hasan (Darussalam) It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and he said: A good hadith.

Chapter on the dislike of using obscure language, affectation, and forced eloquence, and employing the fine points of the language when addressing the common people and the like:
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He said this three times, it was narrated by Muslim.
And it was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2853Hasan (Darussalam) It was narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, and he said: A good hadith.
And it was narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1738 It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and he said: A good hadith".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths all relate to what a person utters, and that is that it is befitting, indeed it is obligatory, for a person not to speak except with good, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2500Sahih (Darussalam), and good may be good in itself or good for the sake of others. Among the good in itself is for a person to speak with the Qur'an, with dhikr, with enjoining good and forbidding evil, and the like of that.
As for good for the sake of others, it is for a person to speak with what is not a reward in itself, but he intends to make his brothers comfortable, to remove their discomfort, and to unite their hearts. This is from the good. Even general conversation, if a person's intention with it is what we mentioned, this is from the good. The opposite of that is the one who is foul-tongued, may Allah protect us from that, who is a slanderer and a cursing one. A slanderer means one who slanders lineages and faults people, and a cursing one is one who frequently curses and abuses them. We ask Allah for safety. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) negated faith from one like this, so he said:, rather the believer is gentle, easy-going, soft in speech, and easy.
And among the defects of the tongue is also using obscure language and affectation, until a person speaks with the fullness of his cheeks, and until he speaks to the common people with the obscure aspects of the Arabic language, either out of showing off so that people say: How knowledgeable he is in Arabic, or for other reasons. A person should have his speech like the speech of people, speech that is understood, even if it is in the dialect, as long as he is addressing the common people. But if he is addressing students of knowledge and in a gathering of learning, then here his speech should be with what he is able of in the Arabic language.
And in the second chapter that the author mentioned: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:: The pretentious one is the one who uses obscure language, who pretends with his speech or his saying or his action or his opinion or other than that of what people consider a departure from the customary. And all of this is from the good etiquettes that Islam brought, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

The believer does not insult the honor of others, nor curse, nor commit Fahishah, nor is he foul.
ليس المؤمن بالطعان، ولا اللعان، ولا الفاحش، ولا البذيءAnd it was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Al-Fuhsh is not present in anything but it mars it, and Al-Haya' is not present in anything but it beautifies it.
ما كان الفحش في شيء إلا شانه ، وما كان الحياء في شيء إلا زانهChapter on the dislike of using obscure language, affectation, and forced eloquence, and employing the fine points of the language when addressing the common people and the like:
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The overzealous have perished
هلك المتنطعونAnd it was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed Allah detests the excessive among men, who slaps his tongue around like the cow slaps his tongue.
إن الله يبغض البليغ من الرجال الذي يتخلل بلسانه كما تتخلل البقرةAnd it was narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The dearest and the closest of you to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who are the best in behaviour; and the most hateful and the farthest from me on the Day of Resurrection will be the talkative and the most pretentious and the most rhetorical.
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:

And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, then let him say what is good or remain silent.
