The reciter: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may the prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "Chapter on the severity of the prohibition of sorcery:
Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:102] the verse.
From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:Sahih al-Bukhari 2766 Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim" .
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author said (may Allah have mercy on him) in his book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on the severity of the prohibition of sorcery" :
Sorcery: It consists of knots, recitations, and spitting by which the sorcerer reaches the point of harming the bewitched. Some of it kills, some of it causes illness, some of it deprives the mind, and some of it causes attachment, meaning a person becomes intensely attached to another. Some of it causes aversion, meaning a complete turning away from another. It has various types, refuge with Allah, but all of it is forbidden.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disavowed the one who performs sorcery and the one who is bewitched. Some of it leads to disbelief. If the sorcerer reaches his sorcery through demonic spirits, drawing near to them and worshipping them until they obey him, then this is disbelief without doubt.
As for if it is not so, then it is harm and forbidden, and it is among the major sins. It is obligatory for the one in authority to kill the sorcerer without repentance, meaning: he kills him even if he repents, because if he repents, his case is with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and if he does not, his case is with Allah, but we kill him to ward off his harm and corruption. As for if he does not repent, he is among the people of the Fire if his sorcery is a cause of disbelief, because sorcery, refuge with Allah, is among the greatest corruption on earth and among the greatest evils, because it comes to a person without him being cautious of it. But there is something that protects you from it by the permission of Allah (Mighty and Majestic): it is reading the prescribed adhkar, such as the Verse of the Throne,[Al-Ikhlas 112:1], [Al-Falaq 113:1], [An-Nas 114:1], and the like of what came in the verses and hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This is the greatest protection that protects a person from sorcery.
Then the author mentioned (may Allah have mercy on him) the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:102]. The beginning of the verse is His saying: [Al-Baqarah 2:102]: meaning what they follow upon the kingdom of Sulayman, which is that the jinn taught people sorcery. [Al-Baqarah 2:102]: Sulayman (peace and blessings be upon him) did not disbelieve and did not leave behind sorcery, but he left behind the knowledge of prophethood, for he was one of the noble prophets (peace and blessings be upon them). [Al-Baqarah 2:102]. In this is evidence that learning sorcery from the jinn is disbelief. For this reason, we said a moment ago: if a person uses the jinn to aid in his sorcery, he is a disbeliever.
[Al-Baqarah 2:102]: These are two angels whom Allah the Exalted sent to the land of Babylon because of the many sorcerers there, to teach people sorcery, but they advise people: [Al-Baqarah 2:102]. Allah the Exalted sent them to teach people sorcery. Here a person might ask: How does Allah the Exalted send angels, when the angels are honored and respected by Allah the Exalted, how does He send them to teach people sorcery? It is said: This is a trial from Allah the Exalted. For this reason, when they taught people, they said: [Al-Baqarah 2:102]. They advise people, but Allah the Exalted tested people with this, so they began to learn from the two angels, learning from them what is called attachment and aversion, which is among the most severe types of sorcery. [Al-Baqarah 2:102]: The sorcerer, refuge with Allah, comes to a man whose situation with his family was good and whose life was pleasant, and he separates the man from his wife, refuge with Allah. She screams when he approaches her, cries, and repels him. And when he is far from her, she cries over his separation, refuge with Allah. He harms her from both sides: from the side of togetherness and from the side of separation.
Likewise, the husband finds himself in great longing for his family, but when he comes to his family, he is fed up with them, his chest becomes narrow, and he wishes to die, refuge with Allah. This is from the great sorcery.
Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:102]. Glory to Allah the Great! Who has the dominion of the heavens and the earth? Allah the Exalted. These sorcerers and jinn, however much they gather on a matter they want to harm you with, and Allah the Exalted does not harm you, then they will not harm you. [Al-Baqarah 2:102]. And consider this construction, for the sentence here is nominal: [Al-Baqarah 2:102], and the nominal sentence implies permanence and continuity. Then the negation is confirmed with the letter ba [Al-Baqarah 2:102] If Allah the Exalted permits it by decree, then Allah is capable of all things. And if He wills to prevent, He prevents all evil, because He is the One in whose hand is the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and He is the Creator of causes and the Preventer of causes, and He is capable of all things. [Al-Baqarah 2:102]: meaning these people to whom the two angels were sent: [Al-Baqarah 2:102]: meaning there is no pure harm in which there is absolutely no benefit. For this reason He said: [Al-Baqarah 2:102]: it is pure harm in religion, worldly life, and the wretched end. Likewise, the injustice that occurs to the bewitched person, He will judge for his right on the Day of Resurrection; Allah the Exalted will not neglect him.
[Al-Baqarah 2:102]: Allah confirmed this sentence with the oath and the lam and qad: meaning: Indeed, these who learn sorcery know that what they learn has no share in the Hereafter. They knew from where? From the saying of the two angels: [Al-Baqarah 2:102]. They knew and the matter became clear to them, but they, refuge with Allah, chose it. For this reason He said: : and buying is only done with desire and greed for the item being sold. For this reason, Allah the Exalted named its learning as buying. [Al-Baqarah 2:102] meaning: he has no share in the Hereafter. And no one among the people has no share in the Hereafter absolutely except the disbeliever. The believer has a share in the Hereafter, either he enters Paradise without reckoning, or he is punished according to his sins and then his end is Paradise. But the disbeliever has no share in the Hereafter, meaning: no portion.
[Al-Baqarah 2:102] They sold: here it means they sold, meaning that Allah blamed this which they chose and for which they sold themselves. [Al-Baqarah 2:102]: meaning if they had been among those with knowledge, they would have known that this is pure evil.
In summary: Sorcery is among the major sins, and it may lead to disbelief. And the punishment of the sorcerer is that he is killed, whether he disbelieves with his sorcery or not, by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1460Da'if (Darussalam), and in another wording: . We ask Allah the Exalted to protect the Muslims from their evil, and to turn their schemes back upon them, and to help us and you to learn the prescribed adhkar by which a person protects himself from his enemies among the jinn and humans. And Allah is the One who grants success.
He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "Chapter on the severity of the prohibition of sorcery:

"He said, "To join others in worship along with Allah, to practice sorcery, to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause, (according to Islamic law), to eat up Riba (usury), to eat up an orphan's wealth, to give back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting, and to accuse, chaste women, who never even think of anything touching chastity and are good believers.
