Benefits of the Hadith: (May Allah bless you and bless upon you, and unite you both in goodness)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So, there is a discussion of this hadith:
First:
May Allah bless you بارك الله لك
, is it a statement of fact or a request? It is a statement of fact in the sense of a request, because "bless" is a past-tense verb, but the intent is not to report a fact; the intent is to ask, meaning that you are asking Allah to bless him and her.
Second: Is this phrase prescribed for the man and the woman? We said: As for the man, there is no doubt about it. As for the woman, it may be said that it is prescribed from her female companions.
One of the benefits of this hadith is that it is prescribed to say it to one who has married, whereas it is not prescribed to say it to one who is only proposing.
Another benefit of it is that it is said to one who has married, even if consummation has not taken place, because a person becomes the husband of the woman and she becomes his wife as soon as the contract is made. If he died, she would inherit from him, and if she died, he would inherit from her, so he is asked for blessings.
One of the benefits of this hadith is that shaking hands is not prescribed when giving the wedding blessing. What is the evidence? The evidence is the absence of evidence, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do it. If he had done it, it would have been transmitted along with the phrase, because it is unlikely that the Companions would overlook a Sunnah that was combined with another Sunnah. That is, it is unlikely that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would shake hands and say this dhikr, and then this dhikr would be transmitted but the handshake would not. Also, there is no place for shaking hands in this situation, since shaking hands is only for meeting and greeting.
Now, branching from this benefit is that kissing is even further removed and more contrary to the custom of people today, where they shake hands and kiss, and perhaps embrace in a way that makes one gasp for breath. Yes, in any case: this is not prescribed, neither this nor that, neither shaking hands nor kissing.
One of the benefits of the hadith is that you will find Islamic congratulations and Islamic greetings to be good and a blessing. For example, among the greetings that are not purely Islamic is for a person to limit himself to saying: "Welcome," "Ahlan." What is in that? "Welcome" means you have entered a spacious place, and "Ahlan" means you have entered or descended into a place of welcome. What is the benefit? Only honor. But "As-salamu alaykum" is a greeting and a supplication. "With prosperity and children" is also, if it includes a supplication, a supplication for worldly matters, with prosperity and children. But
May Allah bless you both and join you together in good بارك الله لكما وعليكما وجمع بينكما في خير
encompasses it all. So if you reflect on the Sunnahs that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought in such occasions, you will find that they are goodness, supplication, blessing, and rectitude.
One of the benefits of this hadith is that it is recommended to turn to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in all matters, in times of joy and in times of sadness. So at the time of marriage, ask Allah for blessing for the husband and for her, and that He unite him with his family in goodness.
