In his saying (peace and blessings be upon him), “Marry women who are fertile and loving…,” does this imply asking the wife about her ability to bear children, i.e., whether she is fertile?

The questioner : ...
Marry women who are fertile and loving. تزوجوا الولود الودود
.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Can it be inferred from the medical examination that we now perform on the wife before marriage?

The Shaykh : No.

The questioner : Whether she is fertile or not?

The Shaykh : No, this is known through her close relatives.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. What about hugging… when there is great joy upon receiving news, such as hugging because of this news?

The Shaykh : In any case, it is not prescribed, but do we say it is a religious innovation that is forbidden, or do we say it is not a recommended practice for which one is rewarded, and it is sufficient, being a matter of custom?

The questioner : Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : …and the news comes to you that the marriage contract has been concluded, and you rejoice with great joy, so you hug him and greet him, for example. Is there anything wrong with this?

The Shaykh : There is no reason for this, and since the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not shake hands with him, he did not shake his hand. Therefore, you have him as your companion. He says, “By Allah, I got married last night,” and you immediately stand up, shake his hand, and kiss him. Yes?

The questioner : What is your opinion on birth control?

The Shaykh : It will come to us, if Allah wills.

The questioner : It has already been mentioned, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : It has not been mentioned.

The questioner : The hadith
Marry women who are fertile and loving. تزوجوا الولود الودود
.

The Shaykh : It will come to us, if Allah the Exalted wills, the hadith of Jabir: “We practiced coitus interruptus while the Qur’an was being revealed.”

The questioner : …the hadith of Anas.

The Shaykh : Do you mean you are insisting that we answer?
