Ruling on saying: “If I have done well, it is from Allah, and if I have erred, it is from myself and Shaytan”
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: A. M. A. from Makkah al-Mukarramah says in his question: I hear some preachers and lecturers saying at the end of their speeches: “This is all I have. If I have done well, it is from Allah, and if I have erred or made a mistake, it is from myself and Shaytan.” What is the ruling on this statement, O Shaykh? Please inform us; may Allah reward you.
A: I am not aware of any harm in that; because that is the truth. The lecturer, the teacher, the preacher, and others among the advisors must fear Allah and seek the truth in this matter. If they hit the mark, that is from the grace of Allah upon them. If they err, it is from their negligence and from Shaytan. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger are innocent of that. And success is from Allah.
