The Ruling on Urinating While Standing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible for a person to urinate while standing, given that nothing of it reaches his body or his clothes?

A: There is no blame on him for urinating while standing, especially when there is a need for it, provided that the place is secluded where no one can see the private parts of the one urinating, and nothing from the spray of the urine reaches him. This is based on what is established from Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him)
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)came to some people's garbage dump and urinated while standingأن النبي ﷺ أتى سباطة قوم فبال قائما
Sunan an-Nasa'i 26Sahih (Darussalam)
, which is agreed upon as authentic. However, it is better to urinate while sitting; because this is the predominant practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), it is more concealing of the private parts, and it is further from being struck by anything from the spray of the urine.
