The ruling on a man urinating while standing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible for a man to urinate while standing?

A: There is no harm in urinating while standing, especially when there is a need for it, provided the place is covered so that no one can see the 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) of the one urinating, and no one is affected by any of the spray of the urine; for it is established from Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) :
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)came to some people's garbage dump and urinated while standingأن النبي ﷺ أتى سباطة قوم فبال قائماً
Sunan an-Nasa'i 26Sahih (Darussalam)
However, the better option is to urinate while sitting; because this is the predominant practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and because it is more concealing of the 'awrah and further from being struck by any of the spray of the urine.
