Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {And the sun runs to its resting place}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(38) And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. (39) And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. (40) It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.
[Yasin: 38-40]?

A: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) interpreted this noble verse for Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), and his statement is:
And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
[Ya-Sin 36:38]
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned to Abu Dharr, saying: "O Abu Dharr, do you know what its resting place is?" Abu Dharr said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Its resting place is that it prostrates under the Throne of its Lord, Mighty and Majestic, going and returning by His command, Glorified and Exalted is He.
It is prostration; Allah knows its manner, Glorified and Exalted is He.
And all these creatures prostrate to Allah and glorify Him (Exalted and Majestic is He) with a glorification and prostration that He (Glorified and Exalted is He) knows, even though we do not know it or understand it, as He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: :
The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.
[Al-Isra: 44]. And He the Exalted said:
Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people?
[Al-Hajj 22:18]
the verse [Al-Hajj: 18]. This prostration is fitting for Him, and no one knows its manner except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). And from this is His saying the Exalted in Surat al-Ra'd:
And to Allah prostrates whoever is within the heavens and the earth, willingly or by compulsion, and their shadows [as well] in the mornings and the afternoons.
[Al-Ra'd: 15].
The sun runs as Allah commanded it, rising from the east and setting in the west until the end of time. When the Hour approaches, it will rise from its setting place, and that is among the major signs of the Hour, as the authentic hadiths from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) have been mass-transmitted regarding this. When this world ends and the Resurrection occurs, it will be crumpled, as He, the Exalted, said:
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
[At-Takwir: 1]. It will be crumpled, its light will vanish, and it and the moon will be cast into Hellfire, because the need for them has ceased with the departure of this world.
The point is that it runs to a resting place for it, going and returning, and its resting place is its prostration under the Throne in its movement, rising and setting, as mentioned previously in the authentic hadith. That is by the decree of the Mighty, the All-Knowing, and it is He (peace and blessings be upon him) who decreed that for it.
The Mighty, and its meaning is: the One whose rank is secure and who prevails over everything. The All-Knowing: of the conditions of His creation, Glorified and Exalted is He. And success is from Allah.
