Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {And the sun runs to its appointed place...}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
He also asks about the exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(38) And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. (39) And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. (40) It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.
[Yasin:38-40].
Answer: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) interpreted the beginning of this noble verse, which is the statement of the Exalted and Majestic is He:
And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
[Ya-Sin 36:38]
. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned this to Abu Dharr, saying:
O Abu Dharr! Do you know where the sun sets?
Sahih al-Bukhari 4802
. Abu Dharr said: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said:
Its appointed place is under the Throne. It prostrates under the Throne to its Lord, Mighty and Majestic, going and returning by His command, Glorified and Exalted is He.
. The prostration of Allah is known by Him as to its manner, (Glorified and Exalted is He). All these created things prostrate to Allah and glorify Him, (Exalted and Majestic is He), with a glorification and prostration that He knows, (Glorified and Exalted is He), even though we do not know it or understand it, as He said, (peace and blessings be upon him): :
The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.
[Al-Isra 17:44]
. And He, (Glorified and Exalted is He), said:
Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people?
[Al-Hajj 22:18]
, the verse.
This prostration is fitting for them, and their Lord knows it and knows its manner, (Glorified and Exalted is He). So they move as Allah has commanded them, rising from the east and setting in the west until this world ends. When this world ends, they will be rolled up, as He, (Glorified and Exalted is He), said:
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
[At-Takwir 81:1]
. They will be rolled up, their light will disappear, and they will be cast into Hellfire, along with the moon; because the need for them has ceased with the departure of this worldly life.
The point is that it runs to its appointed place, going and returning. Its appointed place is its prostration under the Throne in its movement, rising and setting. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. It is He who decreed this, Glorified and Exalted is He, the Almighty, the Invincible, the One whose rank is supreme, the Prevailing over all things, the All-Knowing of the conditions of His creation, Glorified and Exalted is He.
And the moon - We have determined for it phases
[Yasin:39]. Allah has appointed stations for the moon, just as the sun has stations. Every night it has a station, and they are twenty-eight stations. They are called twenty-eight *nujum* (stars), meaning a star that descends to them every night. The twenty-ninth night is the night of diminishment; and the thirtieth night is likewise if the moon does not appear. It may appear on the thirtieth, making the month short, or the month may be completed so that it does not appear until the thirty-first night. When it is at the end of the month, its light weakens and it becomes like an old palm fiber at the end of the thing. The *arjun* is the fiber that is in the stalk of the date palm, which bends and becomes like an old palm fiber, meaning bent and weak, its light weak. Its light may disappear completely at the end of the month so that no light remains for it, and only the image of its creation remains. This is among the signs of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He.
It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the dayلا الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ
[Yasin:40]. When it was mentioned that the moon has appointed stations, and likewise the sun runs to its appointed place; it was mentioned that the night and the day are running, meaning as Allah commanded, and the sun and the moon are running as Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, commanded. So the sun does not overtake the moon, and the moon likewise
It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the dayلا الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ
[Yasin:40], meaning: each of these creatures has a measure by the permission of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, that it does not exceed, it does not exceed it ever, rather in its movement it moves with precise movement; and so the moon, and so the night and the day. So the sun does not come out in the dominion of the moon, nor does it take the light of the moon, and the moon likewise does not take its light, nor does it rise in its dominion. Each has its time and each has its dominion. So the sun’s dominion is in the day, and the moon’s dominion is in the night.
It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon
[Ya-Sin 36:40]
meaning: it surrounds it and prevails over it and takes its light; it has no dominion in this, so its dominion is in the day, and the moon likewise does not take its light. It has its dominion and it has its dominion. Each is in an orbit in which it swims. Each is in its orbit which Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has appointed for it. And so the night and the day. This comes in its time with its darkness, and the day comes in its time with its light. This does not precede this, nor this precede this. Each of them has a measured movement that does not increase over it or decrease from it except by the permission of Allah. Sometimes the night increases and the day decreases, and sometimes the opposite, they exchange in a period of twenty-four hours. This decreases sometimes and the other increases sometimes, then the opposite comes and this decreases and this increases; for this reason He says, Exalted and Majestic:
(38) And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. (39) And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. (40) It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.
[Yasin:38-40]. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
