The Ablution from Water Collected in a Vessel Under the Faucet
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Sometimes I perform wudu, and there is a vessel under the faucet where water collects. What is the ruling on performing wudu from the water that has collected in the vessel, and if I perform wudu from this water, is the prayer valid?
A: Performing wudu from water collected in a vessel from the limbs of the one performing wudu or ghusl is considered pure.
The scholars differed regarding its purity for worship: is it pure water that permits wudu and ghusl, or is it merely pure, like restricted water such as pomegranate water and grape water, and the like?
The stronger view is that it is pure for worship; due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan Abi Dawud 67Sahih (Al-Albani) It was narrated by Imam Ahmad and the people of the Sunan, except Ibn Majah, with a sound chain. Nothing is excluded from this except what has changed in color, taste, or smell due to impurity; if it changes due to that, it becomes impure by consensus.
However, it is better and more cautious to refrain from performing wudu from such used water, in order to avoid the disagreement, and because of some dirt that may occur from performing wudu or ghusl with it.
The intended meaning of wudu is washing the limbs of wudu, from the face and what follows it.
And success is from Allah.
