Ruling on a woman in postpartum bleeding who does not pray or fast until after forty days, even though she has become pure

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Many people, when a woman gives birth, she takes forty days after delivery during which she does not pray or fast, even if this woman is pure. What is the ruling?

A: Postpartum bleeding prevents prayer, fasting, and intercourse, just as menstruation does. Postpartum bleeding is the blood that comes out as a result of childbirth. As long as the woman sees blood within the forty days, she does not pray, does not fast, and it is not permissible for her husband to have intercourse with her, until she becomes pure or completes forty days. If the blood continues with her until the forty days are completed, it is obligatory for her to take a full ritual bath at the end of the forty days; because, according to the correct opinion, postpartum bleeding does not exceed forty days. So she takes a full ritual bath, prays, fasts, becomes permissible for her husband, and protects herself from the blood with cotton or the like, so that it does not affect her clothes or her body. The ruling for this blood is the ruling for irregular non-menstrual bleeding: it does not prevent prayer or fasting, and it does not prevent her husband from her. She has to perform the ablution for prayer for every prayer.
As for if she sees purity before the forty days: she takes a full ritual bath, prays, fasts, and becomes permissible for her husband as long as she is pure, even if only a few days have passed of the forty. If the blood returns to her within the forty days, she does not pray, does not fast, and does not become permissible for her husband, until she becomes pure or completes the forty days. What she did during the days of purity, whether prayer or fasting, is valid, and she is not required to make up the fasting.
