The Ruling on the Adhan and Iqamah for One Praying Alone

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I sometimes pray the obligatory prayers alone because there is no mosque near me. Is it obligatory for me to perform the adhan and iqamah for every prayer? Or is it permissible for me to pray without an adhan or without an iqamah?

A: The Sunnah is to perform the adhan and iqamah. As for whether it is obligatory, there is disagreement among the scholars, but what is better for you and more cautious is to perform the adhan and iqamah due to the generality of the evidence. However, you must pray in congregation whenever you are able to do so. If you find a congregation or hear the call to prayer in a mosque near you, it is obligatory for you to respond to the mu'adhdhin and attend with the congregation. If you do not hear the call and there is no mosque near you, the Sunnah is for you to perform the adhan and iqamah yourself.
It is established from Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said to a man:
If you are with your sheep in the desert, raise your voice with the call, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: No tree, stone, or anything else that hears the echo of the mu'adhdhin's voice will not testify for him on the Day of Resurrection.إذا كنت في غنمك وباديتك فارفع صوتك بالنداء، فإني سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: لا يسمع صدى صوت المؤذن شجر ولا حجر ولا شيء إلا شهد له يوم القيامة
.
And success is from Allah.
