Ruling on saying: (I bear witness that Ali is the wali of Allah) and (Hasten to the best of deeds)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: What is the ruling of Allah and His Messenger regarding a group of people who do the following: they say in the adhan: (I bear witness that Ali is the wali of Allah) and (Hasten to the best of deeds) and (The family of Muhammad and Ali are the best of families). And when one of them dies, their closest relatives slaughter a sheep which they call: the 'aqiqah, and they do not break any of its bones, then afterwards they bury its bones and its marrow, and they claim that this is a good deed and that it is obligatory to do it. So what is the position of the Muslim who is upon the Muhammadan Sunnah and has a kinship tie with them? Is it permissible for him, according to the Shari'ah, to be affectionate toward them, to honor them, to accept their honor, to marry them, and to give his women in marriage to them? Knowing that they openly declare their belief? And they say: that they are the saved sect? And that they are upon the truth and we are upon falsehood?

A: Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has clarified, through the tongue of His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the words of the adhan and the iqamah. And Abdullah ibn Zayd ibn 'Abd Rabb al-Ansari saw the adhan in a dream, so he presented it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him
It is a true dreamإنها رؤيا حق
and ordered him to teach it to Bilal, because his voice was more resonant than his, so that he would call the adhan with it. So Bilal used to call the adhan with it in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until Allah took him , and there was nothing in his adhan of the words mentioned in the question.
As for what some people narrate from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to say in the adhan: (Hasten to the best of deeds), it has no basis in truth.
As for what is narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) and from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn, Zayn al-'Abidin- and from his father- that they used to say in the adhan: "Hayya 'ala khayr al-'amal" (Hurry to the best of deeds), there is doubt regarding its authenticity from them, even if some scholars of knowledge authenticated it from them. However, what is known of their knowledge and jurisprudence in the religion necessitates suspending judgment on the claim of its authenticity from them; because someone of their stature would not be unaware of the adhan of Bilal or the adhan of Abu Mahdhura, and Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) heard and was present for that, and 'Ali ibn al-Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him) was among the most knowledgeable people in jurisprudence, so it should not be assumed that they would contradict the well-known and widespread Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the adhan. And even if we assume its authenticity from them, it is mawquf (stopping at them), and it is not permissible to oppose the authentic Sunnah with their statements or the statements of anyone else; because the Sunnah is the governing authority, along with the Book of the Mighty and Majestic Allah, over all people, as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Dayيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنْ تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ
[Al-Nisa: 59]. And we have referred this phrase transmitted from them, which is the expression: "Hurry to the best of deeds" in the adhan, to the Sunnah, and we did not find it in what is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the words of the adhan.
As for the saying of Ali ibn al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) in what is narrated from him: that it is in the first adhan, this is possible that he meant by it the adhan in the presence of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) when it was first legislated. If he meant that, then it was abrogated by what the matter settled upon in the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and after it, of the words of the adhan of Bilal, Ibn Umm Maktum, and Abu Mahdhurah, and in them is not this phrase nor any other of the phrases mentioned in the question.
Then it is said: that the claim that this phrase exists in the first adhan, if we take it to mean the adhan in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), is not accepted; because the words of the adhan have been preserved in the authentic hadiths since it was legislated, and this phrase is not in them, so its invalidity is known and that it is a bid'ah (religious innovation). Then it is also said: Ali ibn al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) is among the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions), so if this report of his is authentic with marf' (traced to the Prophet), it is in the ruling of mursal (a report missing the Companion link), and mursal is not a proof according to the majority of scholars of knowledge, as Imam Abu 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-Barr transmitted that from them in his book (Al-Tamhid). This is if there is not found in the authentic Sunnah what contradicts it, so how is it when there is found in the authentic hadiths coming in the description of the adhan what indicates the invalidity of this mursal and that it is not considered! And Allah grants success.
