Does the sorcerer cast a spell on the eyes of those sitting with him, or does his magic extend beyond them?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: We have heard that deception is a form of magic, such as pulling a car with a hair from one's head. Does the sorcerer only cast a spell on the eyes of those sitting with him, or does his magic extend to the eyes of those present with him and those who are not present? This is because we see in our homes and on television screens people pulling a car with their hair or their mouth, and we were not near them to have our eyes bewitched. So what does that indicate? May Allah reward you with good.
A: The sorcerer bewitches the viewers who witness his work. There may be those who help him in this process, unseen by the viewers, from among the devils who assist him. They see us, but we do not see them. It may be a spell of the eye through the sorcery he performs, such as producing a bird or an egg or something else from his pocket or mouth in the eyes of people, and the matter is otherwise, as Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said regarding the magicians of Pharaoh in Surat al-A'raf: [al-A'raf:116] And He said in Surat Ta-Ha: [Ta-Ha:65-66].
It may also be in what he drags of heavy weights with one or two hairs, where the devils assist him in this. They are not seen, but they drag it with him and help him while they are unseen. Indeed, they have other means that Allah has enabled them to use, so that we do not see them, and they do the thing that helps their awliya (close friends of Allah) from among the jinn, as Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: [al-A'raf:27].
We ask Allah for well-being.

He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic.
(65) They said, "O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw." (66) He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes].
It may also be in what he drags of heavy weights with one or two hairs, where the devils assist him in this. O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.
