If the Hajj is voluntary and then becomes defective, how do we make it obligatory for him to make it up?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah reward you. How do we make it obligatory for him to make it up if his Hajj was a voluntary Hajj?

The Shaykh : Yes, you have spoken well. This is a pertinent question. It asks how we oblige him to make it up when his Hajj is voluntary? We have a principle that was mentioned previously: voluntary Hajj is like obligatory Hajj in the obligation to make it up and in the impermissibility of exiting from it. So, he must proceed in the defective state, and the defective state does not suffice, so making it up is obligatory due to the defect of this ritual.

The questioner : What is called Mutam? If he performs Hajj next year, is it called Mutam?

The Shaykh : No, it is not Tamattu' by obliging him to proceed. This part in which he proceeded, is it defective or valid?

The questioner : Defective.

The Shaykh : So, the defective is not accepted. It must be invalidated. It is like the pilgrims who say in questions from before. Yes, yes, Salih al-Ghamidi.
