The Virtue of Reciting the Noble Qur'an and Its Manners

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first message in this episode is from one of our brother listeners, who indicated his name with the letters: (K. A. S. B) from Khartoum, Sudan. Our brother has a collection of questions, among which is one that says: I read two parts (ajza') of the Noble Qur'an every day after the 'Asr prayer. What is your guidance in this matter? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
Reciting the Noble Qur'an is prescribed (mashru') permanently in all times, night and day. The Qur'an is the speech of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and it is the best of speech. It is revealed, not created; from it began, and to it returns. It is His speech, just as all His attributes are His, such as knowledge, mercy, satisfaction, anger, hearing, and sight. All of these are His attributes—(Exalted and Majestic is He)—befitting Him. So His speech is befitting Him; it does not resemble the speech of anyone else—(Exalted and Majestic is He). It is the best book and the best speech. Allah made it a guidance for the servants, a reminder and a admonition, and a clarification. He the Exalted said:
Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable
[Al-Isra: 9]. He the Exalted said:
Say, "It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure."
[Fussilat: 44]. He the Exalted said:
And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.
[An-Nahl: 89]. So if a person reads it after 'Asr, or after Fajr, or in all times, it is all good. And reading it after 'Asr has a benefit; because dhikr (remembrance) at the end of the day, in the evening, is a required matter.
And likewise, it is required at the beginning of the day. It is the best of dhikr and the greatest of dhikr. But it is prescribed for the reader to pay attention to the recitation, and for it to be with humility, reflection, understanding, and desire for benefit. As He the Exalted said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.
[Sad: 29]. And He the Exalted said:
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?
[Muhammad: 24].
So what is prescribed for the reader, whether male or female, is to reflect, to understand, and to pay attention to the meanings until he benefits, and then to act upon them. Whether the reading is from the mushaf (written copy) or from memory. And it is prescribed for a person to seek the appropriate times in which his humility is greater and his reflection is greater: in 'Asr, or at night, or at the end of the night, or at the beginning of the morning. He seeks the appropriate times in which he hopes his reading will be more complete in terms of humility, reflection, understanding, and turning to the meanings of the Qur'an. And it is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.
Riyad as-Salihin 999
. So this is a favor from Allah, (Exalted and Majestic is He).
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its people on the Day of Resurrection.
. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
On the Day of Resurrection the Qur'an and those who acted according to it will be brought with Surah al-Baqara and AI 'Imran preceding them.
Sahih Muslim 805
.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions one day:
Who among you would like to go to Batihan—a valley in Madinah—and come back with two large camels, without sin or severing of family ties? They said: We all love that, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: For one of you to go to the mosque in the morning and learn a verse from the Book of Allah is better for him than two large camels, and three is better than three, and four is better than four, and a number of camels equal to them.
, or as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said. So this indicates the virtue of reading and learning.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The best among you is he who learns and teaches the Qur'an.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1452Sahih (Al-Albani)
. The best of people are the people of the Qur'an, in learning, teaching, and acting upon it. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:
and the Qur'an is proof, either for you or against youوالقرآن حجة لك أو عليك
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2437Sahih (Darussalam)
. In the hadith of Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Cleanliness is half of faith and al-Hamdu Lillah (all praise and gratitude is for Allah alone) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and al-Hamdu Lillah fill up what is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charity is proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.
Sahih Muslim 223
. Muslim narrated it in his Sahih.
So the point is: The Qur'an is an argument for you if you act upon it and are upright upon it, and an argument against you if you neglect it and are not upright upon it. So it is obligatory for the one who has the Qur'an to pay attention to the Qur'an in knowledge and action, and to beware of falling short of the commands of the Qur'an, or committing the prohibitions of the Qur'an. Rather, he should be eager to do the commands and leave the prohibitions, eager to reflect and understand, hoping for the reward of Allah and fearing His punishment. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
