Ruling on spending zakah on the construction of mosques

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He asks and says: If I have money, is it permissible to spend its zakah on building a mosque, or must it be spent on the poor? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Zakah is not to be spent on the construction of mosques and schools, but rather it is to be spent on the eight categories mentioned in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler - an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
[Surat al-Tawbah: 60]. So, my brother, spend it on the poor and the needy, and praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter : Praise be to Allah. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
