The ruling on one who causes the death of his child by drowning or the like

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener: (S. A. Q.) sent a message saying: I lost a child who was one and a half years old to drowning in the house seven years ago. Now I want to fast for two consecutive months, and with Allah’s help I have fasted, and now I am in the second month. Is my fasting valid after seven years have passed since my child’s death?

Answer:
If his death was due to drowning caused by you, because you placed him near the water and he fell in, then you must fast if you are unable to free a slave; otherwise, freeing a slave is obligatory. If freeing a slave is not feasible, you fast for two consecutive months, sixty days. So complete it, finish it, and seek help from Allah. Even if you delayed, you must hasten to do it, but you should seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him for the delay that occurred. Allah will help you and expiate the sins of us and you. Yes.
