The obligation of a son toward his mother who is lax in performing the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says regarding his mother, Your Eminence the Shaykh, my mother is fifty years old, but Allah has guided her, she is weak in performing the five daily prayers, that is what he says, and I wanted to advise her several times, over many long years, and my father as well, who is now alive, praise be to Allah, but I notice that the matter remains as it is, so what do you direct us all to? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is obligatory for her to fear Allah, and to preserve the prayer at its times; because the prayer is the pillar of the religion, and the greatest of the obligatory acts, and the most important of them after the two testimonies, so it is obligatory for every Muslim, and every Muslim woman, to preserve the prayers at their times with all care, due to the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
Maintain with care the [obligatory] prayers and [in particular] the middle prayer
[Surat al-Baqarah:238], and His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
And establish prayer and give zakah and obey the Messenger - that you may receive mercy.
[Surat al-Nur:56] and His saying -Exalted and Majestic is He-:
Certainly will the believers have succeeded:قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۝
[Al-Mu'minun 23:1]
the believers who are humble in their prayers [Surat al-Mu'minun:1-2], then He said at the end of the verses:
And those who are constant in their prayers
[Surat al-Mu'minun:9].
So the point is: that it is obligatory for the believer, male and female, to care for the prayer, and to preserve it wherever one is, in travel and residence, in hardship and ease, in health and illness, in wealth and poverty, even if one is on one's bed praying, if one is able, one prays sitting; one prays sitting, if one is unable; one prays on one's side, if one is unable; one prays lying down, one has no excuse for abandoning it ever as long as one's mind is with one, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is the Salat
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2616Hasan (Darussalam)
and he also said -peace and blessings be upon him-:
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.
meaning: and the woman, the meaning is the same, meaning: the address is to the man and the woman, this includes everyone, and he said -peace and blessings be upon him-:
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
.
And it is obligatory for you, O her son, to advise her, and likewise her husband, it is obligatory for him to advise her, and to discipline her as well, even by striking her until she straightens out in preserving it, and if she intentionally abandons it; she becomes a disbeliever by that -we ask Allah for safety- and it is befitting for him to separate from her at that time if she has become a disbeliever, it is obligatory for him to separate from her, a Muslim does not remain with a non-Muslim woman who is not from the People of the Book.

The intended meaning: It is obligatory for you both, you and your father, to care for her, you advise with kind words, and good manner, and your father as well, and he has authority over her to discipline her if .... and she is lax in the prayer -we ask Allah for her guidance- and may her Lord protect her from Satan, yes.

The presenter : O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
