The Ruling on a Single Sacrifice for One Household

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
From one of the listening brothers, a message says in one of its questions: My older brother and I live in the same house, and we are both married. Is it obligatory for each of us to offer a sacrifice, or is one sufficient? May Allah reward you with good?
Answer: The sunnah (recommended practice) is the same for both of you, and it is not an obligatory sunnah; the udhiyah (sacrifice) is a confirmed sunnah. If you slaughter one animal, you are one household; you are one household, and one animal is sufficient for you. If you slaughter two, that is better and praise is due to Allah, but it is not confirmed that more is required; one is sufficient. Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
We were in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and a man among us would sacrifice one sheep for himself and his household, and they would eat from it and give it in charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sacrifice two sheep: one for himself and his household, and the second for whoever of his Ummah had not sacrificed.
, so one is sufficient because you are one household, but if you add more, there is no blame on you.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
