Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message was received for the program from listener Muhammad Ahmad Asiri from Makkah Asir, containing four questions. In one of his questions, he says: What is the ruling on acquiring vessels coated with gold paint, or vessels that are believed to be made of silver? Is it permissible to drink from them, or not? Is it permissible to acquire vessels coated with gold water in the house merely for decoration?
Answer: Vessels made of gold and silver are not permissible to acquire, nor is it permissible to drink from them or eat from them; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited eating and drinking in vessels of gold and silver. He said:Bulugh al-Maram 16 And he said, may the prayer and peace be upon him: .
Therefore, it is not permissible to acquire vessels made of gold and silver, nor those coated with any of it or gilded with any of it; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited that, as you heard in the authentic hadith agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim, where the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:Bulugh al-Maram 16 And he also said, may the prayer and peace be upon him: Narrated by Muslim in the authentic collection. Gilding is of the same kind as pure gold and pure silver, and coating is likewise; all of it is prohibited, even if it is for decoration; because it is a means to drinking from it and eating from it, even if it is placed for decoration. The obligatory thing is to leave that. Likewise, if it is made of spoons or cups for tea or coffee, it is prohibited; because they are vessels. It is not permissible to take any of the vessels, small or large, made of gold and silver, nor the thing coated with them, whether they are vessels for drinking or eating, whether they are small vessels like spoons and cups for tea and coffee, or large ones. There is no difference in that due to the generality of the evidence. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
