Question:
Your Eminence, this questioner is Umm Khalid from Bahrain. She says: Your Eminence, I would like to inquire of you about books. I am, praise be to Allah, a committed young woman, and I would like to read about creed. So what books do you advise me to start with in creed? This is my first question.

Answer:
The book *Three Fundamental Principles* by Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, and *The Four Bases*, his book *Tawhid* (may Allah have mercy on him), and *Kashf al-Shubuhat*; these are excellent summaries. And *Al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah* by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah; we advise you to memorize it, it is excellent.
And in hadith, *Al-Arba'in al-Nawawiyyah*; because it is concise, forty-two hadiths, along with eight by Ibn Rajab, making fifty in total from the concise words of the Prophet. We advise you to memorize them. And if it is easy for you, memorize *'Umdat al-Hadith* by Shaykh 'Abd al-Ghani ibn Sirr al-Maqdisi, that is good, or *Bulugh al-Maram* by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, that is good.
And in fiqh, such as *Zad al-Mustaqni'* or *Dalil al-Talib* or *'Umdat al-Fiqh* by al-Muwaqqi', these are beneficial and useful books in fiqh, which are used to help understand the issues until the evidence is established for them. Yes.

The presenter: And in fiqh, Your Eminence.

The Shaykh: *Zad al-Mustaqni'*, which is by al-Hijawi, or *'Umdat al-Fiqh* by al-Muwaqqi' ibn Qudamah, or *Dalil al-Talib*, or other good, small, and beneficial books in fiqh.

The presenter: And tafsir, Your Eminence, may Allah preserve you.

The Shaykh: For tafsir, we advise reviewing the tafsir of Ibn Kathir, a good and beneficial tafsir, and Ibn Jarir, and al-Baghawi, the tafsir of Ibn Sa'di, the tafsir of al-Shanqiti (may Allah have mercy on them), *al-Jalalayn* is beneficial, but it contains some errors. If the student of knowledge understands them, there is no harm. Yes.
