The ruling on listening to the Qur'an while thinking, doing kitchen work, and doing laundry

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Our sister says: "By the praise of Allah, I try to utilize every minute in the obedience of Allah. Sometimes I am engaged in work that requires thinking or concentration, yet I leave the radio on the Qur'an. Am I correct or am I wrong?"
Answer: No, in such a case, turn it off. Turn off the radio until you gather your heart for thinking and considering the matter required of you. This is because listening to the Qur'an while thinking is a distraction and a failure to give the Qur'an its due right. Allah says:
So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attentionوَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنصِتُوا
[Al-A'raf: 204]. Since you are occupied, in such a case, turn it off and attend to your affairs. There will be other times for the Qur'an when your heart is free for it, turning to the recitation, and prepared for understanding and reflection. So, the Qur'an has its time, and the thoughts and needs of a person have another time.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. Your Eminence, through the messages that reach the program, many of our sisters say: "We leave the radio on the Noble Qur'an while we are working in the kitchen, doing laundry, and handling household affairs. Does this have an effect, Your Eminence?"
The Shaykh: This is permissible with listening, like washing and such easy tasks. But the point is the thing that requires thought. If it requires thought and contemplation, turn off the radio, so that the person performs the obligation and so that he seeks out what benefits him, yes, and clears his conscience.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and do you good.
